Project Background
In 2022, publishing giant Egmont undertook a major renovation of one of its office floors located in the Stena Story House building in Malmö, Sweden. The goal was to modernize the workspace while maintaining operational transparency and minimizing disruption. To support this transformation, the renovation process was documented and managed using STAGES.
Scope and Methodology
The renovation included major interior upgrades: new HVAC systems, modular partitions, custom lighting, and updated flooring. The project team carried out regular Matterport 3D scans throughout the renovation, capturing milestones such as mechanical installations, drywall framing, and final interior finishes. Original floor plans and updated CAD files were integrated into the STAGES platform to allow side-by-side validation.
Use of STAGES
SIMLAB STAGES enabled stakeholders—ranging from Egmont’s facility team to contractors and designers—to access a shared digital environment. The Timeline view allowed users to track the progress of the renovation in chronological order, while the Split-Screen feature facilitated instant comparisons between the design intent and the actual as-built conditions.
Use of STAGES
Improved coordination between Egmont’s internal project managers and subcontractors
Real-time visibility for non-local stakeholders, eliminating unnecessary travel
Clear comparison between BIM/CAD plans and completed work
Centralized documentation repository for ongoing maintenance and operations
Increased transparency and accountability during construction
